Hi I am Ysabelle Vautour I am a visually impaired artist living in NB the land of peace and friendship. For this residency I am experimenting with visually depicting ideas around disability.
The photo was taken by another disabled artist named Rachel Watters as part of a photo voice project in Rachel’s Masters Thesis on Disability in the Media. We worked in collaboration. I wanted to depict the idea of a poster child for disability.

If I don’t use my visual aids, I pass as abled. So, how do I visualize something invisible? While I at times use aides to help me see, these aides do not define me but they to signal part of my disabled identity. After gathering my tools I started making still life’s with them.
