Hammock Patches, Heidi Nagtegaal and Sarah Lum, 2021

Heidi Nagtegaal and Sarah Lum, patches, hand drawings and font by Nagtegaal and Lum, silkscreened on a series of 4 patches by Lum in her studio, released by Hammock Residency Press, in conjunction with their Archival Activation residency with Hammock Residency, 2021.

This piece is a collaboration between Sarah Lum and Heidi Nagtegaal. Heidi and Sarah had many a long conversation about Hammock, and the core ethos that Heidi used to found the project. They came up with the list of icons together. Sarah drew the spiderweb, and the tea cup. The Hammock Residency logo and Build Spaces Embody Them were font works of Nagtegaals that Sarah printed because they seemed emblematic to the project. The sourcing of all the fabric, and the silkscreening was all done by Sarah Lum.

The patches work as a conceptual piece by Heidi Nagtegaal, as part of the archival activation residency they did with Hammock Residency in 2021, when Hammock Residency was relaunched after 5 years of fallow.
